The Breath of the Spirit at Pentecost

This week we stand in the rhythm of Pentecost, remembering the moment when the Holy Spirit came like a rushing wind and rested upon the early church. In Acts 2:1–4, we read that when the day of Pentecost had fully come, the disciples were together in one place, and suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind filled the house. Tongues of fire rested on each of them, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak as the Spirit enabled them.

We give thanks to God, who sends the Holy Spirit into our lives even now. God’s Spirit, whom we understand as present and active among us, empowers us to live beyond fear, beyond limitation, and beyond isolation. They breathe courage into weary hearts and awaken faith where hope has grown quiet.

As we reflect on Pentecost, we are reminded that the Spirit is not distant or reserved for a single moment in history. The same Spirit is alive in our community today: guiding, renewing, and strengthening us for love and service.

This week, may we be attentive to the movement of the Spirit in our lives. And may we extend love and grace to those around us, recognizing that we are all being shaped together into the body of Christ.
